The James Island Boy’s swimming rocked the 4A State Championships like know other this season. “After each event the Boy’s kept getting stronger and stronger…it really was impressive.” Head Coach Keith Corbeil explained.
The Medley Relay of Nic Tuemler, James McKenna, Matt Grenier and Andrew Levy took 8th place capturing 30 points and that momentum continued as the Boy’s set three New SCHOOL records. The 2016 Team of Alex Hutton, Joseph Riddell, Parker McCraw, Ethan Guthrie, and Lawson Durant held the 200/400 Freestyle Relay Records. The JI team of Tuemler, Luke Nixon, Wells Cloud and Drew Thomas claimed the 200 Free record with a 2nd place finish and a time of 1:30.14. The same four smashed the 400 Relay time by more than 8 full seconds finishing 3rd and reaching the podium with a time of 3:21.28.
Wells Cloud, Luke Nixon, Drew Thomas had Double PRs in each of their events with Cloud lowering the School’s 100 backstroke record time by more than 3 seconds. “It was just amazing how well all of our team performed at this level…In my eyes our Relay’s got us into a Top Five position…they represented James Island well and I am PROUD of them,” Coach Keith
