James Island Trojans Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-5 loss to Stratford on Tuesday. Stratford scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Kinard in the first inning, a single by Cudd in the second inning, a double by Dylan Stewart in the second inning, a double by Kinard in the second inning, and a sacrifice fly by Travis Lott in the second inning.
James Island Trojans Varsity lost despite out-hitting Stratford 12 to six.
Stratford knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Kinard’s sac fly scored one run for Stratford.
Stratford pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Cudd singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, Stewart doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Kinard doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Lott’s sac fly scored one run for Stratford.
Robbie Fleming led the Stratford to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed ten hits and five runs over six innings, striking out one and walking zero. #6 threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. #6 recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Stratford.
Jaxon Weatherford took the loss for James Island Trojans Varsity. He went three innings, allowing eight runs on five hits and striking out one.
James Island Trojans Varsity scattered 12 hits in the game. Alex Mitchell, Weatherford, Tyler Pendleton, and Bryce Morris all managed multiple hits for James Island Trojans Varsity. Mitchell led James Island Trojans Varsity with three hits in four at bats.
Stratford racked up six hits on the day. Kinard and Stewart each racked up multiple hits for Stratford.
