James Island Trojans Varsity nabbed the lead late in the game in a 2-1 victory over Patriot Pioneers on Wednesday. The game was tied at one with James Island Trojans Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Tyler Pendleton singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Jaxon Weatherford struck out five, while Patriot Pioneers pitchers sat down eight.
James Island Trojans Varsity evened things up at one in the bottom of the fourth inning. Pendleton drove in one when he singled.
Weatherford was credited with the victory for James Island Trojans Varsity. He lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and one run while striking out five and walking zero.
Riley Eikhof took the loss for Patriot Pioneers. He allowed four hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven.
